Coroner ID's Motorcyclist Killed Friday on Hwy 101

Los Altos man lost control of bike—alcohol and drugs not considered a factor.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has identified a man killed in a motorcycle crash in East Palo Alto Friday night as Jingfu Chen, 59, of Los Altos.

Chen was traveling on southbound U.S. Highway 101 at about 7:45 p.m. when for unknown reasons he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed near University Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A green 2000 Toyota Corolla, which was driven by a 32-year-old Hayward man, struck the bike after it went down, the CHP said.

Chen was taken to Stanford Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m.

It has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
