Police were then called to the 2300 block of Palo Verde Avenue at 1:44 p.m. after sensors detected the sound of gunfire in the area, according to Detective Steve Ong.
Residents then called to report a gunshot victim, Ong said.
The victim, an 18-year-old East Palo Alto resident, was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle for treatment of a superficial gunshot wound to his head.
