Elderly Driver Trapped After Car Careens Off Road

70-year-old's car jumped a curb and fell eight feet.

An elderly woman narrowly avoided serious injury Wednesday morning when her car jumped a curb and dropped into a parking garage, crashing through the windshield of a parked car and trapping her inside, according to the Fire Department.

The 70-year-old woman was exiting northbound on Birch Street from Page Mill Road at around 11:00 a.m. when her car jumped the curb and fell seven to eight feet down, crashing into the parked car, the rear of her own car resting on a brick retaining wall.

Palo Alto Firefighters responded to a reported accident at the Sheridan Ave underground parking garage.
