Fire Destroys Top Half of House on Georgia Ave

Blaze charred home under construction.

Palo Alto Firefighters knocked down a blaze at a house on Georgia Avenue Saturday night.

The 1st Alarm assignment was reported after a structure fire was witnessed at 1:12 p.m. on the 600 block of Georgia Ave, said Palo Alto Fire Battalion Chief Chris Woodward.

A neighbor across the street noticed smoke and flames on the roof and called 9-1-1.

The house was under construction at the time—the construction crew had actually just left shortly prior.

Fire Engine 5 was the first to arrive. Smoke and flames were billowing from the roof. The Engine Captain determined that the fire was isolated to the roof and sent firefighters in to extinguish it.

The blaze was knocked out within 10 minutes of arrival.

Total damages are approximated at $25,000 to $30,000.

No one was hurt during the fire.

Fire response came from Palo Alto Engines 5 and 2, Santa Clara County E15, Rescue 2, Truck 6, Medics and the Battalion Chief 6.
