Gunn High Burglary Suspect Arrested

Suspects stole laptops from Gunn High School two weeks ago.

Palo Alto Police claimed victory Wednesday in tracking down and arresting two suspects who allegedly burglarized two weeks ago and stole two laptops.

A classroom at Gunn was broken into during the evening of July 21, police said. Palo Alto Police investigators tracked the suspects to East Palo Alto, where this morning police arrested 18-year-old Alfredo Antonio Gonzalez, Jr. of East Palo Alto, for burglary, and 19-year-old Nayely Anahi Castillo, of East Palo Alto, for possession of stolen property.

Police recovered both stolen laptops while serving a search warrant during the arrest.

The Gunn High burglarly was one of a series of burglaries that have targeted Palo Alto schools in recent weeks.

Lt. Sandra Brown said in a statement Wednesday that Palo Alto Police are hard at work to stop the trend.

“The Police Department realizes that students are the real victims in these burglaries,” the statement said, “and is working tirelessly to solve these crimes, recover stolen property, and hold the responsible persons accountable.”
