Man Fatally Struck by Freight Train

The victim was hit this evening on the Caltrain ride-of-way track in Palo Alto.

 A male victim was struck and killed by a Union Pacific Railroad Co. freight train Monday night in Palo Alto, Caltrain officials reported.

The victim was hit at about 9:30 p.m. on the Caltrain tracks near Churchill Avenue, spokeswoman Jayme Ackemann said.

The train remained stopped until the coroner arrived.
