Man Stabbed at Downtown 7-Eleven

Suspect in custody following manhunt.

A man stabbed another man in the leg Friday during a fight inside a downtown Palo Alto convenience store Friday, police said.

The alleged stabber was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and remains in custody. The victim was treated at a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Palo Alto Police responded to the reported knife fight at the 7-Eleven at 401 Waverly Street at 1:33 a.m. Friday. The suspected knife attacker was found two blocks away a few minutes later on Waverly Street at Hamilton Avenue and was detained, police said.

An investigation found that the suspect and victim had been arguing before they began physically fighting inside the store. They didn’t know each other, police said.

During the scuffle, one man stabbed the other in the shin with a folding knife.

Palo Alto Fire paramedics transported the victim, a male in his forties, to a local hospital, where he was released later that morning, police said.

The suspect also sustained an injury, to his finger, which required a hospital visit.

Police booked Cody Cowin, 26, of San Rafael, into Santa Clara County Main Jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
