Middlefield Road Accident Victim Identified

The cause of death has not been released for the Palo Alto resident.

The man who died at the scene of has been identified as David Jefferson, 63, of Palo Alto. His cause of death is still pending.

A Palo Alto Police department accident reconstruction team determined that Jefferson likely suffered a medical emergency, causing the crash.

No one else was in Jefferson's vehicle when he hit a tree on Middlefield Road around 8 a.m.

Traffic was impacted for several hours.
