News alert from the Palo Alto Police Department:

We need your help to locate this woman in her 70s, who walked away from her family's home in the 2200 block of Harvard Street in the College Terrace neighborhood this morning at 8:15 a.m.

Motoko Higashiyama is visiting from Japan for only this week, and is unfamiliar with the neighborhood.

She speaks only Japanese. She is 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white shirt with a red pattern (possibly floral), and unknown color pants.

Her hair is now mostly gray, not the color depicted in this photograph. She is not carrying any identification.

A neighbor possibly saw Motoko around 12:45 p.m. on foot near Stanford Avenue at Harvard Street.

Our officers have been checking the neighborhood extensively, but have yet to be able to find her. As she is unfamiliar with the area, we believe she may still be on foot, looking for her family's home.

If you see her, please call our 24-hour dispatch center immediately at 650-329-2413 and keep her under observation, if possible, until an officer arrives. Thank you for your help!
