Palo Alto Police: Celebrate the World Series Sensibly

The Giants are on the cusp of their second world championship in three years.

The Giants could clinch the World Series Sunday. If your celebration includes a party or bar-hopping, the Palo Alto Police Department has a message for you—designate a sober driver.

PAPD Investigative Services Division Manager Lt. Zach Perron said, “We’re all excited for the Giants! We would remind fans to always designate a non-drinking driver if they’re out celebrating. We want people to avoid the tendency to get into a car with the friend who has had the least amount to drink…we want them to get into a car driven by someone who has not been drinking, period. That’s the safest way to get home.”

Just to be sure that you understand that this isn’t a suggestion, Perron adds, “Nothing will ruin a fun night or celebration faster than a DUI arrest. Our officers, as always, will be on the look-out for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol.”
