It was 41 years ago today, Officer Gene Clifton died in the line of duty. We honor his memory today, and every day, for his service to the Palo Alto community.
Officer Clifton was shot by a suspect during the service of a narcotics search warrant at a residence in Palo Alto. Officers from the Palo Alto Police Department were serving the search warrant in tandem with federal agents from the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, the predecessor agency to the DEA.
Officer Clifton had served with us for four years, and was survived by his wife, two sisters, and parents. He was 27 years old.
Please join us in keeping Officer Clifton in your thoughts today. For more information, please visit our tribute page.
