Parents Spooked by Camouflaged Pair with Rifles at Woodside School Today

Woodside-Portola Valley deputies of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office evacuated the campus of Woodside Elementary School this afternoon after reported sightings of two subjects dressed in camouflage armed with rifles and a machete.

At 2:30 p.m. deputies responded to the school on Woodside Road which, at the time, was occupied by approximately 100 students and parents, officials said.

Swiftly located were two subjects -- teenagers carrying pellet- or air soft-type rifles, deputies said. The juveniles were detained, interviewed and subsequently turned over to family members.
