Pedestrian Killed by VTA Bus Identified

San Mateo resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus in Palo Alto on Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 55-year-old San Mateo resident Robert Akers, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Akers was struck around 1:35 p.m. in the 2300 block of El Camino Real, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
