Pedestrian Robbed at Gunpoint in Downtown Palo Alto

Two suspects remain at large. Police seek witnesses.

Police seek two armed men after a robbery Monday night in a residential neighborhood north of downtown Palo Alto, law enforcement officials announced Tuesday.

According to the Palo Alto Police Department, the victim walked along the 100 block of Bryant Street at about 10:07 p.m. on Aug. 12 when he heard something behind me.

When the victim turned, he saw two men about 10 feet away from him and one of the men pointed a gun at him. They told him to get to the ground and then they proceeded to take his wallet, a bag with a laptop and other items from his pockets. Then they fled eastbound on Poe Street.

A jogger came to the aid of the uninjured victim and used their phone to call 9-1-1. Though officers arrived on scene quickly they didn't located the suspects.

The victim described the suspect with the weapon as a white or Hispanic clean-shaven male in his twenties, about six feet tall and between 175 and 200 pounds. He wore a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up. The victim could only describe the second suspect as a male. The victim could not describe the weapon, other than that it was a handgun. No suspect vehicles were seen.

The jogger who helped the victim saw the two suspects from a distance, but couldn't provide a description.
