Police Blotter: Embezzlement at Macy's and Driving Under the Influence

The Palo Alto Police Department responds to various crime reports between May 2nd and May 5th. Here's a sampling of their reports.

Embezzlement

Mountain View resident Ricardo Gonzalez Torres, 18, has been arrested and booked into jail for felony embezzlement under CA Penal Code section 503 on May 3. According to PAPD Officer Marco Estrada, Torres worked at the Macys in the Stanford Shopping Center and between March 25 and April 28 made four fraudulent returns on items that he hadn't purchased. Torres then put the returned cash, which totalled $2,394.22 on gift cards. 

Driving with Suspended License

East Palo Alto resident Maliniv Tukutau, 45, has been cited by the PAPD for driving with a suspended license under CA Vehicle Code 14601.1(a) on May 3 at 9:05 a.m. at San Antonio Road and Nita Avenue.

Public Intoxication

A transient man, Idriss Hamad, 50, has been arrested and booked into jail for being drunk in public in violation of CA Penal Code 647(f) at 95 University Ave. on May 4 at 4:15 a.m.

Driving Under the Influence

On May 4 at 11:58 a.m., Sunnyvale resident Nicholas Alexander Deschamps, 20, was arrested and then booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance under the Health and Sanitation Code 11350(a), driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .08 or more in violation of Vehicle Code sections 23152(a) and (b), and possession of marijuana under H&S Code 11357(a).
