San Mateo Man in Highway 1 Motorcycle Crash, Pronounced Dead at Stanford
Bike passenger hospitalized with major injuries after colliding with car near Pescadero.
A San Mateo man was killed and his passenger injured in a motorcycle crash on state Highway 1 south of Pescadero on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 57-year-old San Mateo resident was riding north on Highway 1 south of Gazos Creek Road around 4 p.m. Thursday when the crash occurred, CHP Officer Art Montiel said.
He was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson and carried one passenger, 26-year-old Kimberly Brown from Luling, Texas, on the back, CHP officials said.
When a southbound Ford Mustang made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, the bike struck the right side of the car and both riders were ejected, Montiel said. Both the motorcycle's driver and Brown were taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital, Montiel said. The motorcycle driver's name has not yet been released by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
The driver of the Mustang, 29-year-old Robert Graciano Jr., of Pescadero, suffered minor injuries in the crash, Montiel said.
