Suspected Burglar Nabbed by Palo Alto Detectives

East Palo Alto resident arrested following month-long investigation.

A suspected residential burglar who escaped police after a March break-in is now behind bars.

Palo Alto Police detectives arrested 27-year-old Tony Lopez, an East Palo Alto resident, while he was at work on a Portola Valley construction site Tuesday morning at around 10:30 a.m.

Lopez was booked into Santa Clara Main Jail on a felony burglary warrant that was issued due to his alleged involvement in a , police said.

Detectives are continuing to try to determine if Lopez might be involved in the string of home-invasion robberies that have plagued Palo Altans this year.

Police continue to urge residents to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious behavior, and to allow police to decide if that behavior is innocent or criminal.
