The victim was driving southbound on Alma Street from University Avenue when his check engine light went on. He pulled over and parked underneath a street light to inspect his vehicle.

Two male occupants of a sedan that drove by almost immediately got out of their car, walked towards the victim, who said they seemed to be joking around and talking loud.

The victim, who is not an English speaker, did not understand the suspects when they started tallking to him in English.

The primary suspect then produced a knife and charged at the victim, cutting him four times on one of his arms as the victim tried to protect himself.

The suspects then returned to their vehicle.

Police say there is no evidence suggesting the incident is gang-related.

The primary suspect is described as an approximately 25-year-old light-complexioned Hispanic male, about 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and pants of an unknown color. He had short black hair and had a short well-groomed beard. He wielded a pocket knife with a 3-inch blade. A sketch of the primary suspect in this case based on the victim's description was drawn by a forensic artist.

The second suspect is described as possibly a Hispanic male in his twenties.

The suspects' vehicle was described as a black sedan. A third person remained in the vehicle during the assault, but the victim was unable to see that person well enough to describe them.
