SUV Slams into Home on Charleston Road

One person has been transported to the hospital.

An out-of-control SUV raced through a fence, across a yard and slammed into a home on Charleston Road this morning, imbedding itself completely in the home. No one in the home was injured, but the driver of the vehicle, described as a middle aged woman, was transported to Stanford Hospital.

Palo Alto Fire Department Battalion Chief Doug Conn told Patch that initial indications are that the driver may have suffered a medical problem that led to the accident.

Conn says the crash caused a cascading effect through Palo Alto city departments, “The building department was called out to check the structure of the house, the utilities department—a guy wire was snapped, so they have to check the integrity of the (utility) pole, and, of course, police are investigating.”
