Tips Lead Police to Credit Union Robbery Suspect

The suspect was arrested after police received two tips from San Mateo County.

 

Palo Alto Police have arrested a suspect in last Saturday’s robbery of Provident Credit Union at 2390 El Camino Real.

The suspect was nabbed after police received two separate tips from people connected to the law enforcement system.

Following the robbery, police created a bulletin and distributed it to regional law enforcement agencies. The bulletin contained surveillance images of the suspect.

A San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputy who is assigned to the Main Jail recognized the man from a prior booking and contacted Palo Alto Police.

The other tipster was the suspect’s San Mateo County Probation Officer.

Detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department conducted further investigation that connected the suspect to the robbery.

Tuesday morning Palo Alto Police officers arrested 50-year-old transient Eddie Darrell Boyce, Jr., at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, 3801 Miranda Ave., Palo Alto.

Officers from the Veterans Affairs Police Department assisted with the arrest, which occurred without incident.

Boyce is on probation for prior convictions involving drugs and evading police.

Boyce was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for one count of robbery, a felony.
