Two Men Rob Couple at Gunpoint in Palo Alto Post Office Parking Lot

Incident occurred at East Bayshore Road post office shortly after Midnight Tuesday.

Police seek two men who robbed a couple at gunpoint who mailed letters in the parking lot of a post office early Tuesday in Palo Alto.

Just after midnight police received a 911 call that an armed robbery had occurred at the Palo Alto Post Office, located at 2085 E. Bayshore Road.

According to police, the victims, a married couple in their 50s, dropped their letters off at the post office and as they walked back to their car the suspect vehicle approached them.

Two suspects got out of the vehicle and confronted the victims, police said. One suspect pointed a black handgun at the couple and demanded their property. Police said the male victim turned over his wallet to the suspects. The female victim did not have any property. The victims were not injured during the robbery, police said.

The suspects fled north on East Bayshore Road in a black newer-model four-door sedan, according to police.

According to police, the victims returned home following the robbery and reported the incident. The suspects remain at large this morning, police said.

The suspect with the black handgun has been described by the victims as a black man, about 30 years old, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He wore a dark-sleeved shirt and dark pants, police said.

The victims described his accomplice also as a black man, between 20 and 30 years old, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and a hat with the brim facing forward, police said.

Police said the victims will work with a police sketch artist and may be able to produce a rendering of the suspects for the public.
