A transient woman who was found dead in a Palo Alto park on Saturday morning has been identified as 72-year-old Gloria Bush, the Santa Clara County coroner's bureau said Sunday.

First responders arrived at Heritage Park at 351 Homer Ave. around 7:20 a.m. after a passerby reported seeing a woman on the ground, according to police. Arriving officers found Bush, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there were no signs of foul play and that it appears Bush was a transient who frequented the park.

The cause of her death remains under investigation.

A woman believed to be homeless was found dead in a Palo Alto park this morning.

First responders arrived at Heritage Park at 351 Homer Ave. around 7:20 a.m. after a passerby reported a woman lying on the ground who didn't appear to be breathing, according to police.

Officers arriving on the scene found the woman, who was pronounced dead.

Police said there were no signs of foul play and that it appears the woman was a transient who frequented the park.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has taken over the investigation and is working to determine the woman's identity and cause of death.

The death comes about three weeks after four homeless people in Santa Clara County  and one man in Dublin succumbed to hypothermia during an unseasonable cold snap.

And in Fremont this week, a police officer found a transient man sitting upright -- but deceased -- at a bus stop. His cause of death is not yet determined, but no foul play is suspected.
