Local Rail Watchdog Sounds Off in NY Times

CARRD Co-Founder Elizabeth Alexis joins prominent commentators in 'Room for Debate.'

Local high-speed rail watchdog Elizabeth Alexis has penned an opinion piece in the New York Times opposing the controversial project.

Alexis' letter appears in the Times' 'Room for Debate' page alongside other debaters, including Stanford's Richard White and CalPIRG's Emily Rusch.

Alexis argues that the state badly needs a rail project, but that "the current project costs too much and delivers too little."

"The project is being run by layers of consultants undersupervised by a skeletal state agency unable to manage the myriad conflicts of interest that are killing high-speed rail," she writes.
