LYFE Kitchen Recognized for Contributions to Community

Assemblyman Rich Gordon honors LYFE Kitchen at California Small Business Day.

LYFE Kitchen got a pat on the back this week from State Assemblyman Rich Gordon at the 2012 California Small Business Day.

The annual convention in Sacramento honors small business owners across California for their contributions to their communities and the state as a whole.

Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom joined Gordon and other lawmakers Monday in handing out recognition and praise to the businesses.

“Small businesses are a cornerstone to every community – they are creating jobs, finding innovative solutions to local and regional problems, and are leaders in our hometowns,” said Assemblyman Gordon.  “This year I am honored to recognize LYFE Kitchen for their leadership in serving food in an environmentally sustainable manner, while embracing their role as a community partner and good neighbor.”

LYFE Kitchen and has become an immediate hit in town, with lines out the door almost every day during lunch. Since opening, the restaurant brand has launched a line of ready-to-eat frozen meals in Costco and plans to expand across the country with new restaurants in the coming years.

LYFE, which stands for “Love Your Food Everyday,” aims to produce great tasting, healthy food by using sustainable products and being eco-friendly in every stage of production.

“LYFE Kitchen is tremendously honored to be awarded “Small Business of the Year” by Assemblyman Rich Gordon,” said LYFE Kitchen CEO Mike Roberts. “Within the past year, we opened our first location in Palo Alto and we’re humbled by the support of our community. We will strive to continue offering great tasting, healthy food options, along with further connecting with our community and giving back.”

California Small Business Day began in 2000 after the California Assembly voted to decree and honor the contributions of Small Businesses to the State of California.
