In Mountain View, single-use plastic bags are now prohibited in supermarkets, grocery stores, and clothing retailers. Restaurants and non-profits, like Goodwill, remain the exception.

For Palo Altans who do grocery shopping in Mountain View, they've been greeted with table top tents on the cash registers of all supermarkets, liquor stores and shopping outlets. As the date approached, signs were pitched to grassy parking lots.
