New City Website Goes Live in Beta

A redesigned city website offers a cleaner, more colorful and user-friendly interface.

The digital labyrinth that is the City of Palo Alto’s website will soon be replaced by a fresh design, now online in beta format.

The pre-release version was released to encourage feedback from the public. The official site will be launched on July 1, when the existing site will begin automatically redirecting to the new one.

The new site offers visitors a streamlined interface, including a list of most popular sections on the front page, alongside a large multimedia window featuring a rotating carousel of rich media content.

“I’m pleased to announce that as of this afternoon the city’s website has been soft-launched,” said City Manager James Keene.

The soft launch, said Keene, allows large audiences to provide real valuable feedback to the site’s developers while sending a clear message that the site is not final nor is it expected to be.

During the next few months, the Website Advisory Committee and city staff will be reviewing feedback and making changes accordingly.

“We encourage everyone to take a look at it and let us know what you think.”
