Palo Alto Flood Basin Tide Gates Repair Work Wednesday
The walking trail across the flood gates will be closed during the repair work.
Santa Clara Valley Water District will repair the tide gates at the Palo Alto Flood Basin Wednesday between the hours of 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. The work coincides with low tide.
The tide gates were built in the late 1950s. Tidal action has washed away sand and sediment from between the rocks under the concrete structure. The water district says the tide gate structure itself has not been weakened.

Construction divers will work under water to direct the concrete pumping while in and under the tide gates. The entire crew will number 5-10 workers and will include concrete pumpers, crew trucks and concrete delivery trucks. Those trucks will access the construction area from Embarcadero Road.
