Pedestrian Hit By Train in Palo Alto
Single tracking trains is underway in Palo Alto. New: trains at a standstill in San Mateo.
Update: Caltrain will be operating normally for the afternoon commute. At one point this morning, trains were running 60-90 minutes behind schedule.
Update: SB218 train stopped at San Mateo and evacuated. The smokestack was on fire.
Update: Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn says the victim is an adult male. The exact age and identity of the victim has not been reported. The accident happened at Charleston Road.

This is the fifth fatality on Caltrain's tracks this year.

The Caltrain 211 train hit a pedestrian in Palo Alto this morning, halting all northbound traffic.
Caltrain is working on single-tracking and hope to restart service in about 10 minutes.
