Following Day-long Outage, Power Fully Restored

Palo Alto Utilities is working on the problem.

 

Update: At 4:00 p.m., all power has been restored.

Update: By 12:50 p.m., only 21 customers were still without power.

An electrical fire this morning has caused power outages for hundreds of residents. While most power has been restored, the completion of all work is not expected until 4 p.m. Here is the latest from Palo Alto Utilities:

"At about 4:20 a.m. on Monday, January 28, there was an outage in the Dana/Ashby neighborhood. About 560 were out of power until 6:15 a.m., when most were able to be repowered.

"At approximately 8 a.m. system operators began receiving more calls of a brown out in the area of Center Street from Pittman to Dana. Crews isolated problem at a transformer on Center Street; approximately 200 customers are impacted. Additional crews are responding. Restoration time now estimated at 4 p.m. today.

"The outage and resultant fire were caused by an oil leak."
