Senator to Host Palo Alto Forum on Dense Breast Tissue

Should women with dense breast tissue get tested beyond mammograms?

State Senator Joe Simitian, Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Breast Cancer Awareness and Detection, will host a public forum in Palo Alto this evening titled “Are You Dense?” Participants will discuss the risks associated with dense breast tissue and what women should be discussing with their doctors.

The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Oshman Family JCC.

According to the senator’s office, forty percent of women who get mammograms have dense breast tissue, which increases their risk of breast while making it harder to detect cancer.
