Simitian Sworn-in, Again, as Supervisor
A ceremonial swearing-in ceremony was held Tuesday morning.

Former state Sen. Joe Simitian was sworn in as a member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors this morning.
Simitian joined the board on Jan. 7 after being elected in November to represent District 5, which includes Palo Alto.
Like the weekend swearing-in that occured in Palo Alto, Tuesday morning's ceremony was a formality, but Simitian said he sees it as "an opportunity to shine a light on the health care challenges we face both here in the county and across the country."
To that end, screened a documentary titled "The Waiting Room" just after the ceremony. The documentary was filmed at Oakland's Highland Hospital and captures the struggles of patients and doctors over a 24-hour period.
