Shop at Whole Foods Wednesday to Support the JCC

Community 5% Days at Whole Foods in downtown Palo Alto help support regional and local non-profit organizations.

The Whole Foods in downtown Palo Alto designates four days during the year where they donate 5 percent of a day’s net sales to a local non-profit organization. The amount raised varies, but can reach up to $10,000 and be a significant source of revenue for regional and non-profit groups.

“We are extremely proud of our Community 5% Days and the relationships that we continue to make,” said Katie Manijak, Whole Foods Marketing & Community Relations Team Leader.  “We strive to make a difference and to help our neighbors support worthwhile causes and organizations just by shopping at our store.”

On Wednesday, May 23 the Oshman Family JCC will be the recipient of the Community 5% Days program. Program staff will be in the store all day providing information about different OFJCC programs, from summer camps to upcoming arts performances to OFJCC Membership options.

“We’re excited the OFJCC has the chance to educate our customers about what their money is supporting,” said Manijak.

Past recipients of Whole Food’s Community 5% Days include The Christmas Bureau of Palo Alto, Comfort the Children and the Whole Planet Foundation. Non-profits with 501(c)3 status interested in becoming a beneficiary of a 5% Day can download an application.

The Whole Foods Market in Palo Alto is located at 774 Emerson Street and is open 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day of the week.
