Plants have appeared prominently in printed European works since the introduction of the woodcut into Western Europe and the development of the printing press in the late 15th century.
Leila Lyons of Lyons Ltd. Antique Prints in Town and Country Village will speak on how the types of plants and the manner in which they are depicted have changed over the centuries, reflecting man's evolving relationship to the plant world and the increasing sophistication of printmaking techniques. She will also discuss the growing appreciation of botanical prints, both antique and modern, and ways to use them in our homes.
The Education Committee as part of Gamble Garden's 25th Anniversary Speaker Series: Gardens and Life Intertwined. Space is limited. A reception in the house will follow the talk.
