Jordan Middle-Schoolers Win Honorable Mention in National Student-Cam Contest

BIG win for these kids! More than 2,300 entries submitted nationwide.

Zoe Dooley, Lauren Aalami and Madeleine Hare, eighth-graders at Jordan Middle School in Palo Alto won honorable mention and $250 for their documentary, “Veterans Health,” in C-SPAN’s national 2014 StudentCam competition.

StudentCam is C-SPAN Television Network's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation.

Students in grades 6 to 12 were asked to create a short (5 to 7 minute) video documentary on a topic related to the competition theme, “A Message to the U.S. Congress - What’s the most important issue the U.S. Congress should consider in 2014?"

A record-setting 2,355 films that were received this year. Almost 5,000 students representing 46 states, as well as Washington DC, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates took part in the competition.

Zoe, Lauren and Madeleine's film was one of 150 winning documentaries.
