More UC Davis Students Using 'Sugar Daddies' to Pay for School (VIDEO)

What do you think of the trend, and the fact that UC Davis's membership is on the rise?

UC Davis is one of the fastest growing "sugar baby" schools in the country, according to SeekingArrangement.com, a social website that connects students with "sugar daddies" -- older men who provide them money to help pay for college.

SeekingArrangement.com describes itself as a site for mutually beneficial arrangements and mutually beneficial relationships. Tells us what you think below this story.

Hundreds of students from UC Davis and UC Berkeley are currently members of the website.

UC Davis experienced a 220 percent increase in registration on the site, ranking the school among the "fastest growing sugar baby schools of 2012," according to a press release. UC Berkley experienced 67 percent growth.

College student memberships on SeekingArrangement.com as a whole increased by 58 percent last year.

"The average college Sugar Baby receives approximately $3,000 per month to cover the cost of tuition, books and living expenses," wrote spokesperson Angela Jacob Bermudo in an email to Patch.

The Huffington Post reported on this trend back in 2011, profiling elderly men who use the site for sex and companionship, and the women who said they "never thought it would come to this."

I don't know why people are even surprised by things like this. I take $20,000 in loans every year, and I'm hoping to get my PhD. It starts to look pretty grim when you're 19 and already so far in debt the numbers don't seem real. I'm not about to sell myself to pay off loans, but the thought is almost tempting.

Shame on both sides if there is a quid pro quo. If an older person simply wants to help a younger person get through school with financial aid and expects nothing in return other than the young person's success.- there is no problem.

I totally agree with rita metermaid. There is no other definition. Prostitution is simply an exchange of money for sexual services, regardless of what the money is for.

I'm with you Richard. Financial aid with benefits. A win win.

SeekingArrangement.com, Mustang Ranch, walking the street ... they are all forms of prostitution.
