Roselle's Goal Not Enough to Get Caldwell Win Over Madison

Caldwell loses 2-1 in state semi-finals.

The girls varsity soccer team traveled to Madison for their NJSIAA North 2, Group 2 semi-final game Monday afternoon. Although they played tough, Caldwell could not muster enough offense to beat Madison.

Gabby Roselle took a misplayed ball in the penalty area and fired it past the Madison goalie to score the tying goal in the first half of the game.

Caldwell played tough on both ends of the field, making scoring opportunities and shutting Madison's high-powered offense. Madison's Catherine Zimmerman would be too much for the Chief's scoring a goal in each half to win the game.

Gabby Roselle, forward—Roselle was very active on offense and at midfield. She was ever-present in the penalty area and scored the Chief's lone goal.

"Madison is a great champ. They deserved to win today. We eeked one out against them and they eeked one out on us this year. I am so proud of my team. They were banged up today. But we fought with our heart and soul. I am really proud how they bonded together. That we lost today doesn't take anything away from what we accomplished this year."—Caldwell Coach Mike Teshkoyan
