School Kids Walk for 'Seeds of Hope' Charity
Silicon Valley school raises more than $5,600 to benefit children in rural China.
Silicon Valley students at Yew Chung International School walked -- and walked and walked ... and sometimes ran -- raising more than $5,600 for the Hong Kong-based charity Seeds of Hope.
The walk-a-thon fundraiser was part of the Mountain View school's annual Founder’s Day Oct. 11 celebration and launches the school's "season of giving."
Yew Chung’s Seeds of Hope charity began after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake disaster to build schools for poor and disadvantaged children in rural China.

YCIS Silicon Valley students, from preschool through 5th grade, far surpassed their $1,000 goal with the walk-a-thon to help fellow students in China access a quality education.
YCIS Silicon Valley also supports Seeds of Hope with an annual fundraising music concert. In March, five 4th-grade violin students will represent YCIS Silicon Valley in an international orchestra with Yew Chung students from sister schools in Hong Kong and China.
