SF 49ers Honor Bay Area Teachers

San Francisco 49ers launch program to honor local elementary and middle school teachers.

The San Francisco 49ers this morning will name the first of 16 Bay Area teachers to be honored during the upcoming 2011 NFL season as a classroom hero.

Representatives from the 49ers and Washington-based Symetra Financial this morning are gathering at the football team's East Palo Alto academy to announce plans to bring the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom program to the Bay Area.

The program honors exceptional K-12 teachers who have shown the ability to achieve long-term success in their students' education.
