Stanford's Quarterback? Stay Tuned!

The season opener is just 10 days away. Who will be taking the snap for Stanford? If the coaches have made a decision, they aren't sharing it.

Andrew Luck is turning out to be a really tough act to follow. Regular scrimmages are over and the kickoff of the season opener is fast approaching—yet the Cardinal has still not named a new starting quarterback.

According to Stanford's web site, the candidates for the job performed well at Sunday's scrimmage,  “Senior quarterback Josh Nunes (7-of-10 passing, 49 yards, 1 TD) and junior quarterback Brett Nottingham (5-of-6 passing, 125 yards) each led the offense to score a touchdown. Nunes connected up top with senior tight end Levine Toilolo for a six-yard score, while junior running back Jackson Cummings scampered 34 yards for the other touchdown of the day.”

The uncertainty about who will helm the team, ranked 21st in the nation in the AP preseason poll, has not hurt ticket sales. The game against USC is already sold out. Ticket sales for the other games are on par with last season.

Stanford’s opener is Aug. 31 against San Jose State.
