Terman Middle School Closer to a New Principal

Pier Angeli La Place will be recommended to the school districted this August.

The Palo Alto Unified School District announced Tuesday that Pier Angeli La Place will be recommended as the new principal at Terman Middle School.

Superintendent Kevin Skelly will advocate on behalf of La Place before the Board of Education on Aug. 27, according to PAUSD spokeswoman Tabitha Kappeler-Hurley.

"I am excited to bring my 20 plus years of working with middle school students in Palo Alto to my new role as principal at Terman," La Place said. "The vision and mission of Terman as an inclusive and socially respectful school dedicated to all of its students, mirror my philosophy and I look forward to working alongside the fantastic staff to help our students continue to develop and achieve.

Ms. La Place replaces Katherine Baker recently appointed director of secondary Education for PAUSD.

La Place is not a stranger to PAUSD where she's taught for more than twenty years, including one year at Duveneck Elementary School and the remainder at Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School.

She attended Stanford University and Cal State Hayward and holds a B.A. in History and Ethnic Studies, a multiple subject credential and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Santa Clara University.

"Pier Angeli has a strong history of instructional leadership in our district and she is an outstanding match for Terman," Superintendent Skelly said. "I am proud of her and excited about the gifts she will bring to Terman and our leadership team in her new role."
