Beyond the Media Glare: the Jim Harbaugh You Know
He spends a lot of time in front of TV cameras—at news conferences or pacing the sidelines during games. But many in Palo Alto know the man beyond the coach.
We’ve seen the ‘prickly’ Jim Harbaugh, answering the same set of questions each week at news conferences. We’ve seen the ‘temper tantrum’ Jim Harbaugh, when he lost a challenge of a call in a playoff game. But what’s Jim Harbaugh like around family and friends, when no media is present?

Dana Wong (Mar) organized the reunion. Her impression, "All his former teammates who kept in touch with him told me there was no way Jim was going to attend our reunion because he was always working. But Marie Ridley, who helped plan the 20th reunion, said he phoned her with regrets that he could not attend but wanted to be at the next reunion so we had some hope. I didn't find out until a week prior that he and his wife would attend. It was a relief to hear his team won their preseason game the day before the reunion! Sarah was pregnant with the baby due in three weeks and he was happy and polite about posing for photos."
Are you a former classmate, or perhaps a neighbor when he coached at Stanford? Maybe you just bumped into him at a restaurant or the grocery store. Share your memories and photos with Patch readers.
