Lifting the Veils - A Workshop with Abby Tucker

Across cultures, the end of October is known as the time when the veils between the worlds of our ancestors and between us, their living descendants are briefly lifted. Called by many names--Halloween, Samhain, the Day of the Dead—it is a time for honoring all that has lead us to this moment in order to move forward and evolve and embody our lives more fully.
This special workshop will feature a full-day of practice encompassing the seasons and cycles of the year—and of life--as they show up in our bodies on the mat. We will build a puja honoring our year and our ancestors as part of our practice, so please bring a small momento of a loved one or of something you birthed and something you let go of this year.

Afternoon Practice
Explore the germination, sprouting and growth of the year through a special sequence featuring standing poses, arm balances and backbends. This class will feature ancestral poses and their more intermediate descendants. Every pose grew from another pose and will evolve to another furthering the cycle.

Early Evening Practice
This practice will feature more inward poses—hip openers, twists and folds--to honor the waning energy of the year and to honor all those who have moved beyond the veil before us. It will be a practice of fully honoring all who have paved the way for us in our families, our lives, and our yoga. This practice will include full pranayama and meditation practices.

All levels are welcome!
