GIRLS BASKETBALL: Eastside Prep Blasts Past Castilleja: CCS Semifinals

Panthers cruise in semis; tango with Pinewood for fourth time this season on Saturday morning.

Here we go again.

After a convincing 62-34 victory over Castilleja School Wednesday night in the Central Coast Section Division V Girls Basketball Semifinals, the Eastside Prep girls basketball team has some revenge on its mind.

Eastside will square off with Pinewood School for the fourth time this season Saturday morning in the CCS D-V championship game.

Pinewood edged Eastside 43-30 in the WBAL championship game two weeks ago.

Eastside blitzed Castilleja behind the usual steady play of all-everything point guard Ahjalee Harvey.

Harvey scored a game-high 25 points in the win. Takara Burse had 22 points.

Eastside raced out to a 12-3 advantage and lead 22-9 after one quarter of play.

The Panthers took a 16-point lead into the half and stretched the margin to 20 points going into the final eight minutes of play.

Natasha von Kaeppler had 13 points for the Gators of Castilleja.

Pinewood will go for its third straight D-V title on Saturday. The Panthers defeated Castilleja in the finals the past two seasons.

Eastside Prep won the section crown in 2008.
