Looking for Some Fun Tonight?

Tim Flannery of the San Francisco Giants will be at the Fox Theatre showing fans a very different element from his usual job coaching third base for the World Series champs.

Tim Flannery is the third-base coach of the San Francisco Giants for eight or nine months of the year, depending on World Series appearances and such.

When he isnt waving home-runners for the Gs, he is playing G chords (and Cs and Ds) and surfing the Pacific. Nice work if you can get it, eh?

While the Giants' amazing, fun-loving fans like nothing more than watching the Giants win games across the country, many of them also can't wait until the off-season - for that is when Tim Flannery the singer-songwriter lets his love light shine, playing with a joy that defines both the man and his music.

The man they call Flan is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and philanthropist whose music has been described as "Americana," steeped in both folk and bluegrass influences, along with music from his Celtic roots.

Last winter, WillPower Entertainment brought Flannery to Napas Uptown, and he brought his music and his friends, including Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead. The sold-out concert benefitted Giants fan Bryan Stow and was an all-time night to remember at the Uptown.

This week, on Thursday, Jan. 24, Flannery and friends are doing it again, this time at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City! Flannery brings Lunatic Fringe - his band of acclaimed musicians including Dennis Caplinger, Jeff Berkley, Dean Smith, Shawn Rohlf, Turi and Brent McClain, and Barbara Nesbitt.

And, Flannery says, you can count on a surf legend or five being in the house.

How can I be in the audience?

As of Wednesday afternoon, according to the event page on Fox Theatre's website, there are still plenty of tickets available for this uncommon event.

Better yet, there is a meet-and-greet VIP reception before the show!

The reception is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and includes beer, wine and appetizers, plus the chance to shake Flannery's hand.

Doors open to the public at 7:30, and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Regular tickets for assigned seating in the theater are $50 each plus fees. VIP tickets are $100 each plus fees.

To purchase tickets and see available seating, visit the event page on Fox Theatre's website.

Fox Theatre is located at 2215 Broadway in Redwood City, across from Courthouse Square. Call 650-FOX-7770.

And, don't forget, the Giants' World Series Trophy will be in Courthouse Square the very next day, this Friday the 25th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.!
