Earthquakes Vs. Galaxy Soccer Game To Take Over Stanford On Saturday

A sell-out crowd of 50,000 will pile into Stanford Stadium for what is turning out to be one of the Bay Areas biggest summer sporting events

While most of the world's soccer fans are occupied with the final days of the Euro Cup, 50,000 will be right here in Palo Alto, watching the San Jose Earthquakes take on the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The sold out game, which will take place on Saturday at Stanford Stadium, is quickly becoming one of the biggest sporting events in the Bay Area this summer. Fans were drawn to the game for various reasons - the Earthquakes being in first place in the MLS Western Conference, the return to the Bay Area of former Earthquake Landon Donovan who now plays for the Galaxy, or the chance that Galaxy star David Beckham's wife Victoria will be at the game.

"I'm really looking forward to San Jose giving Landon Donovan a run for his money considering his lack of loyalty to the Earthquakes," Victoria Tse, a student who will be attending the game, said. "But honestly, I'm also going because I hope Victoria Beckham shows up."
