Foundation Encourages Kids to Start Lemonade Stands

The Toy Industry Foundation has started a new project that asks kids to donate lemonade stand profits to help disadvantaged youth

There’s a new charity-based initiative encouraging kids to make a stand – a lemonade stand . That’s right, The Toy Industry Foundation’s newest project is “Make a Stand For Kids,” a national effort to get kids of all ages to start a lemonade stand and donate the proceeds to help distribute toys to disadvantaged children around the country.

The initiative, which was just launched this week, is meant to help kids learn about running a business – even if it’s just a small one – and why it is important to give back to your community.

“Our ‘Make a Stand For Kids’ program empowers kids to help other kids by setting up their own lemonade stand,” Jean Butler, the executive director of TIF said. “While running their own business children can also learn about the importance of charitable giving, giving back to others and helping those less fortunate.”

There is no official registration process, although parents are requested to give their consent before their kids get started. Those interested in starting a stand can go here to find recipes, tips and more information.

“There is a year-round need for giving and this campaign will provide a fun and enlightening activity throughout the summer months.” added Ms. Butler. “Proceeds from ‘Make a Stand for Kids’ will help get new toys, games and grant monies into the hands of worthy children's charities.”
