The Heroes of Emergency Preparedness

2011 Community Partnership Awards winners announced.

Six Palo Altans will be recognized next week for their work helping keep the community safer and better prepared for emergencies.

The 2011 Community Partnership Awards will be handed out on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 7-9 p.m., during a ceremony hosted by the Palo Alto/Stanford Citizen Corps Council.

The event, in the Council Chambers of Palo Alto City Hall, is open to the public and will recognize the following recipients:

The ceremony will be followed by a panel discussion on disaster preparedness featuring the following experts:

  • Brandon Bond, MS, EMT, CBCP, who is Director, Office of Emergency Management at Stanford Hospital & Clinics
  • Colin Bucks, MD, who is the Interim Medical Director, Office of Emergency Management at Stanford Hospital & Clinics
  • David Lipin, who is the Commander of the San Francisco Bay Area Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT CA-6)
  • Vicky Powell, LCSW, MPA, who has been volunteering with the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter for 12 years

Vice Mayor Yeh will host the Community Partnership recognition and will be joined by Pamela Antil, Assistant City Manager, and Police/Fire Chief, Dennis Burns. A reception will follow the event.
