The Household Hazardous Waste Management program provides Palo Alto residents with an environmentally safe, convenient way to dispose of unwanted hazardous household products such as used or expired medication, paints, solvents, fuels, cleaners, pesticides, etc., which contain hazardous substances. The FARE 5K Walk/Run for Food Allergy in the Bay Area in Memory of BJ Hom is held in memory of BJ Hom, who died from his peanut allergy during a family vacation in Mexico to celebrate his 18th birthday and high school graduation.
It is one of the 60 walks that take place nationwide and bring together thousands of Americans seeking a safe world for those living with food allergies and to fund food allergy research, education, advocacy and awareness.
NBC Bay Area's Morning News Anchor Laura Garcia Cannon will MC this event.

11th Annual Diwali Festival of Lights
When: 10 a.m.
Where: Memorial Park (Cupertino)
This free event brings over 12,000 people to our beautiful Memorial Park, (Stevens Creek Blvd/Mary) in Cupertino, and is a showcase of multicultural music, dance, fun kids zone, workshops, arts and crafts, fun, frolic and food.
The purpose of this festival is to get together and celebrate intercultural understanding that promotes economic prosperity.

Redwood City Oktoberfest
When: 11 a.m.
Where: Downtown Redwood City

History of Almaden Air Force Station (Mt. Umunhum)
When: 1 p.m.
Where: Casa Grande in New Almaden (21350 Almaden Rd, San Jose).
Learn about the history of this fascinating site, see actual artifacts, and enjoy a slide show of amazing historic photos of the radar station when it was in operation between 1958 and 1980.
