This small bike shop has sold, repaired and rented bicycles to the Stanford and Palo Alto communities since World WarMore II. Nestled among Stanford's restaurants on the ground level of Stanford's Tressider Union, the Campus Bike Shop specializes in bike rentals. Bicycles can be borrowed for a day or up to a year, whether for students, researchers, Stanford faculty or local families. The Campus Bike Shop has up to 500 bicycles in its inventory for renting. Its busiest time for bike sales is in September, the beginning of the school year. Its owner Keith Moranz has been with the shop for more than 35 years and has a great sense of the history of the store. Its other employees include bike veterans, as well as local high school students. This shop also sells basic products, such as U-locks, chain locks and bike helmets. The Campus Bike Shop also sells comfort bikes, sports and mountain bikes, cruiser bikes and hybrid commuter bikes.

Velo Tech Cycles is a specialty road bike shop that has been in Palo Alto for more than 11 years.  At this "roadMore bike boutique," customers may buy specialty, often custom, road bikes and cycling equipment. Customers also may get their bikes serviced by the knowledgeable owners themselves. The store's owners Mark and Tom say that combined, they have some of the best road bike knowledge and mechanic skills in the Bay Area. They combine their expertise with care for both their equipment and customers. To that end, Velo Tech has developed into a cycling enthusiast hangout, complete with a fun red couch and a chummy ambiance that's described by some as similar to "going to Cheers, but for bikes."

The shop has bicycles for both rental and sale as well as extensive repair services. The Campus Bike Shop also offers a variety of free services such as a 24-hour air station complete with pressure gauge; complimentary loaner tools and oil for do-it-yourself repairs; and no-charge estimates and loaner bikes with any major service.
