The Rodin Sculpture Garden was created as a dedication to B. Gerald Cantor, the primary donor of the Cantor Art…More Center's Rodin Collection, which consists of 200 works of art by French sculptor Aguste Rodin (1840-1917). It is home to the largest Rodin collection outside of France. Most of the collection is indoors in the center galleries, but 20 bronze sculptures are outside for display including the well-known sculptures "The Gates of Hell" and "The Thinker." There is free admission to the museum and garden. The garden has lighting for nighttime viewing and parking is free after 4pm.
This garden is part of the Cantor Arts Center, a fine-arts museum with a wide range of exhibitions of art history from around the world. The Cantor Arts Center provides free, docent-led tours of the garden and galleries. To schedule a free private group (10-40 people) tour of the Rodin collection or Stanford's outdoor sculptures call 650-723-3469. Please schedule six weeks in advance.
